Update

I knew that I said that I was going to do this update later on but I was bored so I’ve decided to do 2 in 1 day you luck people.

So the biggest news is that my Nan has passed on, which was although perhaps not a great shock because of the state she was in (she had, had two strokes, was no longer eating/drinking and away with the fairies whenever you spoke to her) it was really upsetting she has always been a very large part of my life. At the moment mum and dad are around the other side of the world and can’t be reached so they don’t know (they had said that they didn’t what to know till they came back) they come back on my birthday (24th June) so my birthday won’t be a day I’m looking forward to and I’ll be at home with my parents. I also have a driving test tomorrow so I’m hoping that I can keep it altogether and pass this time but I’ve become a lot more confident now in driving so I’m not so bothered anymore. Yesterday Katie’s mum Angela turned 50 and had the party on Saturday which was great but every so often I did feel a bit guilty that I was enjoying my self. My nan’s funeral will be on the 1st July.

Nick had a bit of moan at me because when I found out what had happened I took off the Thursday and Friday, which didn’t’ seem to pleased about then tried to get me to see a customer on the Friday in Ireland. Now I was quite shocked by this as usually Nick is actually a good boss and I thought hang on, when he said that. However I spoke to the customer and have organised my visit for after I return from holiday. Also as I mentioned earlier CEC let me down so I’m off to rattle his cage.

I pretty much think thats everything really. I’m off to catch a flight

Dublin Airport

Well I’m in Dublin airport at the moment, waiting to get a flight home or to East Midlands Airport then get the Bus Link to the train station then a train to Birmingham New Street and possibly a bus back to the flat or maybe Katie might pick me up. We did a sales demo to an existing customer (Gerards). They had our system installed but it was never implemented in a structured way mainly down to the way Phil worked. They are also looking at tenders from other vendors. My gut feeling is that they won’t go with us because of what has happened in the past. It doesn’t bother me in fact I’d be glad they are a bit of an arse of a customer.

The most annoying thing of today as that the software that John (who I refer to as CEC, my Cake Eating colleague) has let me down the Weighing Program let me down and what with everything that has happened and the fact that I’m going on holiday for a week on Friday (first break this year) I have lost a lot of passion and have become empathetic about my job but seeing what has happened I plan to kick a bit of arse and get things organised. So stay tunes for details.

I’m sorry I didn’t realise this was going to turn into a bit of rant. I will post an update let about the other stuff thats happening. As well as a new podcast which it’ll be a couple of weeks.

Race for Life

I haven’t had time to do post lately (excluding this one) I’m off doing a tour of Ireland tomorrow for 3 days so I will post one then via email (I love blogger).

In the mean time do something nice and sponsor Katie as she takes part in Race For Life. You can sponsor her here.

Thanks

Katie

Sophie Grace’s Christening

After making it all the way down to Stevenage for Paul’s birthday on Saturday, we high tailed it back to Birmingham (getting in for half past midnight on sunday) for Sophie Grace’s Christening on Sunday. It was a lovely day anu much yummy food and beer was consumed by all (most of it when Katie and I headed back to her Mum and Dad’s and tried Irish Dancing). Sophie was more interested in the green wrapping paper that her present came in than her actual present itself. Its always the way really with babies, you go to all that effort and get nothing back ;-)

Paul’s Surprise 40th

Much fun was had by all on Saturday, as it was Paul’s surpise 40th Birthday party. It was a family and friends event so it was great to see all mym mum’s side of the family and the best thing was that Katie came down as well and I got to introduce her to everyone. I got to say goodbye to Mum and Dad as they were off on holiday for 3 weeks sailing, with my two uncles and Grandma to the abacos islands. The bad thing was that I used Google Maps [Grrrr] instead of the RAC’s website to get directions and it added an extra 40+ miles to the journey.

Sort it out Google!!!

My Digital Life

If I could, I would time shift the rise of the sun so it suits my life better. But I can’t so I run through the morning routine. I press senseo for the perfect cup of coffee. I reach down to my laptop, no need to get the morning papers, hey I can use Google News UK to get my info.

I don’t have a radio anywhere near me when I get up, so I use my iPod to get me going in the morning, browse through all my podcasts and drinking my senseo. Having got out of bed its time for a bit of brekkie, but low on food. No problem back to the laptop to go to Tesco.com and go all my shopping in 20 mins and have it delivered to my door. Katie’s off for the weekend so I’m stuck for something to do. Guess what I do, back to Tesco DVD Rental to sort out my weekend.

Whats the name of that album I wanted? Hmm first stop iTunes lets see, ah there it is. I’ll preview a couple of tracks, perfect. Click buy and its downloaded by the time I’ve finished my coffee.

All in all I very geeky and I like my digital life. I can customise my information, browse google for virtually anything, do my banking in bed, stream all my music around the flat. I could watch a dvd streaming from one PC to another. If I even had Sky+ well then life would be sweet. I’d just set that bad boy to record what I wanted and watch it when I want. No more schedule clash it would be perfect. I have all the information I want, but some services (mainly goverment ones) should be better represented on the web. And if you think I have no life, ha I skpye my friends to arrange going to the pub for the quiz.

Come on I’m geeky but human interaction is always needed.

MMORPG It Sounds Like A Farting Noise

Hey people, well it all went well at the bank today. We have taken our first step and now its time to decide what we want. While I was sitting there I was thinking, should I have my mum dad here?!?! It all felt very grown up.

Finally got around to playing Guild Wars today, its really really fun. A bit confusing how everything works but the people online were really helpful. So if anyone has a copy look out for Dark Grunt.
