World of Goo

This week at work has been a bit of a bummer there is an incredible amount to get done, there’s a lot of problems happening at various customers and it takes time to identify these and solve them but they all need solving at once.  Because of this I have been incredibly stressed and quite miserable when I get home and Katie has put up with this quite as well.  On friday I happened to be watching the channelflip games podcast where they reviewed this game called world of goo by indie developers 2dboy.  The aim of each level is to get a certain amount of goo balls into a pipe at the end of a level, you use different kinds of goo balls to build structures to get them across which other goo balls travel along.  Sounds quite similar to Lemmings doesn’t it?

Well I played the demo and fell in love with it, it looks beautiful controls and simple and the idea straight forward, I brought it into work and all the other programmers stopped what they were doing to look at, coo over graphics and marvel at the games physics.  I keep now trying to complete work faster so that I can have 10mins worth of goo time with my coffee.  The is available from their site as well as other outlets (including steam and greenhouse) you can buy it for the Wii and PC.  But if you buy the PC version from their site as the Mac and Linux version become avaliable you get them for free (nice!).  The cost of it is £12 and considering that you get 3 version of the game for that price ain’t bad.  One of the most cool things though its DRM free.

I recommend that you go and download the demo and see if you like, I’m guessing the answer will be yes
