Delays, Delays

Wow, I looked at my blog the other day (difficult to do as…. Sorry just found that the WordPress iPhone app has a landscape keyboard!…. as the site is blocked at work) and realised that it’s been well over a month since I posted any content. That’s quite bad! As part of my defense I’ve been going twitted mad (I’m not a late comer but I’ve been using it loads which I’ll come to later)

What have I been up to, well we have had an enforced 7% paycut, without a reduction in hours or time in lieu. We may get this money back but there’s no firm metric about when the money will return (jusy the company performing better than it is now). I know a lot of you are saying why sign but it was take the cut or loose your job!

As part of this it’s forced me to think about what I want to do further on in my career and I know that if I am going to be earning less money I might as well do something I like. Which is why I’m trying to get involved as a social media/IT bod consultant type person. Now I’m not sure how I got about doing this but I have started to get involve in the scene in Birmingham and it’s more active than I thought. .

After doing some reasearch, using twitter and going to some free events, I’ve started to build up a network of contacts and it’s made me really excitied about IT and my future again which is something that’s been missing, I’m still gonna do the tyranny of the of day job but I’m also actively taking ok freelance work. And you know what it’s making happy so look out Birmingham (and also the west midlands, I mean why limit yourself) here I come!
