Key Points When Installing New Memory In A Macbook
So I recently update the ram on the macbook and have increased it to 2Gb (ram prices at the mo are quite pricey). I’m quite used to installing new hardware on a PC but this was the first time I had done it on a Mac and thought I would share some keypoints, wish I which I had know before I started:
- Read these instructions by Apple first (I did and the process is quite simple and straight forward)
- Get a very, very small Philips screwdriver, which you will need when you remove the L plate (which is in my Macbook). Apple refer to it as a 00
- This is the point they don’t tell you about. When inserting the new memory (as in the case of my Macbook) push it in firmly, really firmly till you can’t see the ram anymore and you hear a click. If you haven’t heard a click its not gone in. Which means when you try and seal everything back up it will beep horribly and freak you out. So remember push it in, till you hear the click!
There’s a good video on youtube to watch as well
