One of the things I have recently managed to purchase for my Wii was EA’s Sports Active: Personal Trainer, I’m always looking at new ways of trying stuff which probably goes some way to explaining why I have a low boredom threshold. I was quite keen on Wii Fit when it came out, but the price was mainly what put me off buying it and the price was is still quite high (from a quick look its £70 compared to EA’s £43)

When you open the box you get a leg grip/strip for the NunChuck and a long red elasticated band for doing resistance based work (biceps, triceps). After doing a quick system update to play the game, I was in and be given a tour on how the system worked and setting up my bio information (I had to do a quick conversion from feet into cm’s). Once setup was completed I decided to use the Journal and select the 30 Day Challenge (hence the title of this post) and will be blogging about my achievements across the month.

The workout I did this morning was a high impact one (there are two other settings medium and low) and the goal was to burn off about 250 calories, I managed to achieve 265. The exercises were quite a mix and (although I don’t have a direct comparison) probably better than the wii fit ones. The consisted of running, high kicks, lunges, squats, squats + jumping (that one is a killer),boxing, tricpes and biceps. Each exercise was well explained and the representation of my movement on the screen was pretty accurate (I don’t know if they will update this when the Wii motion sensor is released) and overall I have to say that I felt like I’d done a work out, not the normal one I would do at a gym but I think this might be helpful to augment it. Nevertheless I will carry on blogging and keep all of you 7 readers updated on how I find it.
